Vita

Born in Vigo, Spain, she has been living and working as a freelance artist in Berlin since 2011 and has been the head of the etching workshop at Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin since 2012. She studied fine arts at the Universidade de Vigo, and the Universidad del Pais Vasco, UPV.- in Bilbao (Spain), the Ecole supérieure des beaux-arts d'Angers (France) and the Universidade Federal RJ in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). After graduating, she focused on printmaking and has attended training courses with Jo Ganter at the Glasgow Print Studio, Niels Borch Jensen in Copenhagen, AGA in Amsterdam, Atelier Pasnic, Paris,
Dan Benveniste in Madrid, among others.

In her art, Gloria Alonso questions the fundamentals of photography, collage and printmaking to explore issues of reproducibility, variation and the serial. In doing so, she analyses the gaps that arise, the deviation and negation within repetition and the resulting opposition between original and copy.
