A Guide to Berlin's Art Scene for Newcomers - Dr. Helen Adkins
Berlin’s art scene is agreeably open and unsettled – for an artist having just moved to the city, this is both a major attraction and a major challenge.
We will look at the jungle of art institutions, galleries, artist run spaces, studio houses etc. so that you can weave an initial personal orientation within the art scene. Alternatively, it could be that you have already been here a while, but still don’t really know where you feel best. We will also mention festivals, biennials and the art fairs in this city. This introduction addresses practical issues as to the whereabouts and circumstances of art locations and events.
In addition, this English language workshop may also be of interest to local Berlin artists, should they have to answer queries or give advice to fellow artists/visitors from abroad.
Dr. Helen Adkins, *1960 in London, raised in Paris, based in Berlin since 1986. Independent art historian with wide experience as a museum curator and commercial gallery director. Specialized in classical modern (avant-garde) to contemporary.
