Die Beratung richtet sich an professionelle bildende Künstler*innen und Sound-Artists, ebenso wie an Berufseinsteiger*innen und Quereinsteiger*innen aus anderen künstlerischen Disziplinen. Willkommen sind alle, die mit Bewegtbild, Found Footage, Mixed Media oder interdisziplinären Formaten arbeiten und ihr Projekt in einem offenen, prozessorientierten Rahmen weiterentwickeln möchten. Lineare Projektionsformen werden genauso begleitet wie nonlineare Arbeiten mit multiplen Projektions- und Spielebenen.

Im Zentrum steht die gemeinsame Sichtung und Besprechung von „rohen“ bis „feinen“ Arbeitsfassungen: Was funktioniert bereits, wo liegen die Baustellen, welche künstlerischen Mittel stehen zur Verfügung? Darüber hinaus sind auch Drehbuch- und Konzeptbesprechungen möglich, wenn es darum geht, die bild- und tonkünstlerischen Möglichkeiten eines Stoffes frühzeitig zu erkunden. Technische Workflow-Fragen, von Bildauflösung und Tonaufnahme über Proxy-Editing und Online-/Offlineschnitt bis hin zu Conforming, Mastering und Archivierung, werden dabei ebenso berücksichtigt wie dramaturgische Aspekte. Die Beratung ist softwareunabhängig und orientiert sich an branchenüblichen Programmen.

Eine Sitzung beginnt mit der Vorstellung des Projekts, seiner Produktionsbedingungen und der offenen Fragen. Daraus entwickeln sich gemeinsam Szenarien für den weiteren Prozess. Das Coaching ist auf begleitetes, selbständiges Arbeiten ausgelegt. Regelmäßige Gesprächs- und Feedbackrunden sollen Inspiration und Klarheit für den nächsten Schritt geben, technisch wie inhaltlich.

Der Beratung liegt ein Verständnis von Montage als offenem, dialogischem Prozess zugrunde, der in stetem Kontakt mit dem Material und den beteiligten Personen bleibt. Achtsame, respektvolle Kommunikation, auch im Bewusstsein unterschiedlicher Lebens- und Arbeitserfahrungen, ist dabei ein wesentlicher Teil der Zusammenarbeit. Grundlage ist ein Master of Fine Arts im Bereich Montage an der Filmuniversität Babelsberg „Konrad Wolf" sowie mehrjährige Erfahrung als Filmeditor.

Die Beratung ist auf Deutsch und Englisch möglich.

This coaching is aimed at visual artists and sound artists, as well as students, those just starting their careers, and people transitioning from other artistic disciplines such as visual arts, music, creative writing, or performance. Anyone who works with moving images, found footage, mixed media, or interdisciplinary formats and would like to further develop their project in an open, process-oriented setting is welcome. Linear projection formats are supported just as much as nonlinear works with multiple layers of projection and performance.

The focus is on the collaborative screening and discussion of the work in stages ranging from “rough” to "refined": What is already working, where are the areas needing improvement, and what artistic tools are available? In addition, script and concept discussions are also possible when the goal is to explore the visual and audio-artistic possibilities of a subject matter at an early stage. Technical workflow issues —ranging from image resolution and sound recording to proxy editing and online/offline editing, all the way through conforming, mastering,  and archiving — are addressed just as thoroughly as dramaturgical aspects. The coaching is software-independent and based on
industry-standard programs.

A session begins with a presentation of the project, its production parameters, and any unresolved questions. From there, we collaboratively develop scenarios for the next steps in the process. The coaching is designed to support independent work with guidance. Regular discussions and feedback sessions are intended to provide inspiration and clarity for the next step, both technically and in terms of content. 

The coaching is based on an understanding of montage as an open, dialogic process that remains in steady contact with the material and the people involved. Mindful, respectful communication — while being mindful of differing life and work experiences — is an essential part of this collaboration. The foundation for this is a Master of Fine Arts in Montage from the “Konrad Wolf” Film University Babelsberg, as well as several years of experience as a film editor.
